Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has announced a special property tax waiver scheme for 2026, offering taxpayers up to 100% relief on delayed-payment penalties if they clear their outstanding and current dues within specified deadlines.
The scheme, titled Shri Ganeshotsav 2026, was announced through a release issued by the civic body’s Information and Public Relations Department on September 10. It will be implemented in three stages during September and October as part of the municipal corporation’s property tax recovery drive for the 2026-27 financial year.
Under the first stage, taxpayers who pay their entire outstanding property tax along with the current year’s tax in a single payment between September 12 and September 20 will receive a 100% waiver on the delayed-payment penalty charged on their arrears.
The second stage will run from September 21 to September 28. During this period, taxpayers must pay their outstanding tax, current tax and 25% of the applicable penalty in one payment. The remaining 75% of the delayed-payment penalty will then be waived under the scheme.
The third stage will run from September 29 to October 5. Taxpayers who pay their arrears, current tax and 50% of the penalty in a single payment will receive a 50% waiver on the remaining delayed-payment penalty.
The municipal corporation said the scheme has been introduced with two objectives: to increase revenue collection for the civic body and to reduce the burden of accumulated interest on residents with unpaid property tax. The waiver applies to the delayed-payment penalty, while taxpayers must pay the applicable outstanding and current property tax amounts as specified for each stage.
The three-stage structure provides the largest concession to taxpayers who settle their dues during the first payment window. The concession decreases in the subsequent stages, with the final deadline set for October 5, 2026.
Prajakta Kulkarni, the municipal corporation’s public relations officer, appealed to property tax defaulters across the city to take advantage of the penalty waiver scheme. The civic administration also urged residents to clear their pending property tax and support the municipality’s development works.
The announcement does not specify in the supplied release the total amount of outstanding property tax targeted for recovery, the number of eligible properties or the payment channels available to residents. Taxpayers will need to confirm their payable amount and the applicable penalty calculation with the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation before making payment under the scheme.
