Traffic restrictions have come into force across Cyberabad for 90 days as construction begins on a multilevel flyover and underpass at IIIT Junction, forcing commuters to use diverted routes around DLF, Gachibowli and the Radisson Junction.
The road between DLF Gate No. 1 and the Gachibowli traffic police station has been closed for the construction work. Traffic travelling from the Radisson Hotel towards IIIT Junction will be allowed only up to DLF Gate No. 1. Vehicles will not be permitted to continue beyond the gate on that route.
Commuters travelling towards IIIT Junction from the Radisson Hotel have been directed to proceed via Gachibowli Junction. They must take a right turn and continue along the Indiranagar-IIIT Junction route. The diversion is intended to keep traffic moving while the section between DLF Gate No. 1 and the Gachibowli traffic police station remains shut.
Traffic moving in the opposite direction, from the Gachibowli traffic police station towards the Radisson Hotel junction, will be routed through the DLF building. The revised movement plan also provides access between the two junctions while construction activity continues at the project site.
Vehicles arriving from Lingampally towards DLF Road will be diverted at the Gachibowli traffic police station. They will have to proceed via IIIT Junction and Gachibowli Junction, take a left turn to reach Radisson Junction, and then take another left turn towards the DLF area.
TCS employees will continue to be permitted to use the Non-SEZ, or CMC, gate for their regular entry and exit. The provision is intended to maintain access for employees using that gate despite the wider traffic restrictions in the surrounding area.
The traffic changes are linked to construction of the multilevel flyover and underpass, which is expected to continue for at least a year. Although the formal restrictions have initially been announced for 90 days, traffic congestion is expected at IIIT Junction and nearby roads during the longer construction period.
The affected routes serve a large number of IT employees and other daily commuters travelling between Gachibowli, DLF, Lingampally and the surrounding technology corridor. The diversions will add route changes for people who previously used the closed stretch, particularly during peak travel periods.
Traffic from the Radisson Hotel towards IIIT Junction will therefore be limited to DLF Gate No. 1, while vehicles continuing towards the junction must follow the Gachibowli Junction and Indiranagar-IIIT Junction diversion. The restrictions will remain in place for the announced 90-day period as work progresses.
