The proposed service is expected to strengthen long-distance rail connectivity while giving passengers an alternative to conventional overnight trains, road travel and short-haul flights.
The sleeper train is designed specifically for long-distance journeys, with sleeping accommodation replacing the seating configuration used on conventional daytime Vande Bharat services. The Bengaluru–Mumbai corridor is a significant inter-city travel market, linking technology, manufacturing, finance, education and services across Karnataka and Maharashtra.An overnight service could change how passengers plan the journey. Travellers would be able to depart in the evening and arrive the following day, potentially reducing the time lost to daytime travel and avoiding the need for an additional hotel night.
