A lane of the Delhi–Mathura National Highway in Palwal will remain closed for two days because of flyover repair work, prompting traffic police to impose diversions for heavy vehicles and advise other motorists to use service roads.
The affected lane carries traffic from Delhi towards Hodal and onwards to Mathura and Agra. The flyover section begins near Pappan Plaza and descends in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s residence, according to the traffic advisory reported by Live Hindustan.
Palwal traffic police have directed heavy commercial vehicles travelling from Delhi and Faridabad towards Hodal, Mathura and Agra to use the Delhi–Mumbai–Vadodara Expressway through Sirkhi Cut. The diversion is intended to keep heavy vehicles away from the repair zone and reduce pressure on the city’s internal roads.
Light vehicles and buses coming from Delhi and Faridabad have been asked not to climb the flyover near Pappan Plaza. Instead, they must use the adjoining lower service road and side routes before rejoining the main highway after crossing the Deputy Commissioner’s residence cut.
Inspector Ravikant, station in-charge at the Palwal traffic police station, said the arrangements had been made for the safety and convenience of road users and to keep traffic moving during the repair work. Additional traffic personnel have been deployed at relevant cuts, junctions and service roads to manage vehicle movement.
The lane closure has already caused congestion at several junctions below and around the highway, including HUDA Chowk, Alawalpur Chowk, Bus Stand Chowk, Aligarh Mod Chowk, Rasulpur Chowk and Agra Chowk. Traffic disruption has also been reported on New Sohna Road and at Committee Chowk, affecting movement within Palwal town.
Traffic police have warned that service roads are likely to experience heavier vehicle pressure during the closure. Drivers have been asked to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, avoid wrong-side driving and refrain from unnecessary overtaking. Travellers heading towards Hodal, Mathura and Agra have been advised to allow additional time for their journeys.
Motorists have also been instructed to follow directions from traffic personnel deployed along the diversion routes. The advisory asks road users to contact emergency services on 112 in case of an emergency. The restriction will remain in place during the Saturday-Sunday repair period described in the advisory, after which traffic arrangements will depend on the progress of the flyover work.
