The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched a Trip Pass for regular Namo Bharat passengers, allowing commuters to purchase multiple journeys between two fixed stations and receive a reported 10% discount.
The facility is aimed at daily passengers who use the Namo Bharat regional rapid transit service for office travel and other regular journeys. It is designed to reduce the need to purchase a ticket separately for every trip, helping passengers avoid queues at stations.
The Trip Pass works as a bulk travel facility for a selected route. Passengers can buy tickets in advance for travel between two fixed stations, according to the report by Jagran – New Delhi. The option is intended to provide a more convenient alternative for people who regularly travel along the same origin-destination pair.
The facility is available for both Standard and Premium coaches. Passengers can select between one and 40 trips, depending on their travel requirements. This gives commuters the option of choosing a smaller pass for occasional regular travel or a larger pass for repeated journeys over a defined period.
The Trip Pass is linked to the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), according to the report. The digital and card-based arrangement is intended to make access to the pass simpler for passengers using the Namo Bharat system.
The introduction comes as regular Namo Bharat users have also been seeking facilities closer to those available on established urban and suburban public transport systems, including longer operating hours and monthly-pass options. A related demand mentioned in the report is for services to continue beyond 10 pm.
The new pass does not replace the need for passengers to select their fixed stations or choose the number of journeys in advance. Its usefulness will therefore depend on how closely a commuter’s daily travel follows the selected route. NCRTC has introduced the facility for passengers seeking a faster and more economical way to make repeated Namo Bharat journeys.
