KBR Park Flyover Work Speeds Up as Hyderabad Traffic Plan Advances

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has directed agencies to accelerate junction improvement works around KBR Park and advance construction activity on a proposed 4.3-km elevated corridor, with the changes intended to enable one-way traffic movement around the park and improve lane switching at key junctions.

The works are focused on the KBR Park main entrance, the Agrasen statue junction and the Jubilee Hills checkpost. According to the report, the junctions vary in size and will require changes to their layouts before the proposed one-way circulation system can be implemented.

Major interventions are planned at the Agrasen statue junction, as well as at traffic islands near Filmnagar and Road No. 45. The stated objective is to enable vehicles to move in one direction around KBR Park and switch lanes safely. The report does not specify a completion date for the junction modifications or indicate when the one-way system will become operational.

GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan inspected the project area with civic officials on Thursday. The inspection covered the proposed elevated corridor between the Jubilee Hills checkpost and the NFCL junction, along with the progress of foundation excavations and the associated junction improvement works.

The elevated corridor is being executed at a reported cost of ₹1,090 crore. During the inspection, the executing agency was instructed to immediately begin geotechnical investigations for foundation design on the stretch between Mugdha junction and NFCL junction.

Geotechnical investigations are an early technical requirement for designing foundations. In this project, the direction links the next stage of foundation planning to the stretch between Mugdha junction and NFCL junction. The report does not provide details of the investigation schedule, the number of proposed supports or the construction completion deadline.

The project therefore combines two linked forms of intervention: changes to surface-level junctions intended to organise traffic around KBR Park, and construction of an elevated corridor connecting the Jubilee Hills checkpost with NFCL junction. The immediate instruction from the GHMC is to speed up both the junction works and the technical preparations for the flyover.

The locations named in the report are among the points through which the proposed traffic arrangement will operate. Changes at the Agrasen statue junction, Filmnagar traffic islands and Road No. 45 will determine how vehicles enter, circulate around and change lanes along the planned one-way system.

The latest inspection records progress on foundation excavations and gives the executing agency a direction to commence geotechnical work on the Mugdha–NFCL stretch. Further details on construction milestones, traffic diversions and the date for commissioning the one-way arrangement were not provided in the report.
