JK Tyre & Industries has commenced production of its first sustainable passenger car tyre at its state-of-the-art Chennai facility.
Branded as the ‘UX Royale Green’, the product integrates International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus-certified materials—making it a pioneering innovation in the country’s tyre industry.This development underscores JK Tyre’s commitment to responsible manufacturing and climate-conscious product design. The UX Royale Green, now officially rolling off production lines, is crafted using up to 80% renewable, recycled and bio-based materials. These include bio-attributed polymers, renewable oils, recycled rubber powder, recovered carbon black, and repurposed polyester and steel. All materials used have traceable origins under ISCC Plus protocols, ensuring circularity and sustainability throughout the value chain.
This marks the first time an Indian tyre manufacturer has successfully commercialised a passenger car radial tyre that meets global sustainability standards, placing India on the map of advanced green tyre technology.Engineered after more than a decade of focused research and testing by JK Tyre’s Global Tech Centre, the UX Royale Green is tailored for high performance while reducing environmental impact. According to the company, the product has undergone extensive evaluation under Indian road conditions and has matched or exceeded performance benchmarks of conventional tyres, without compromising on safety, ride quality or durability.
The ISCC Plus certification obtained by the Chennai plant serves as formal recognition of JK Tyre’s capacity to integrate sustainable processes at an industrial scale. The globally acknowledged certification assures that the plant adheres to stringent environmental, social and traceability standards, making it one of the few tyre manufacturing units in Asia to hold this designation.The launch represents more than just a new product—it signals an industry-wide shift.
