A 24-year-old motorcycle rider died during treatment after an unidentified Eicher truck hit his bike near Apollo International School in Ahmedabad’s Narol area on October 21, according to a report by Divya Bhaskar. The truck driver allegedly fled the scene, and the K Division Traffic Police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
The victim, identified as Jayeshkumar Makwana, lived in Panchshila Residency in Shahwadi, Narol, and worked for a private company on C.G. Road. He was travelling on his motorcycle when the truck approaching from the opposite direction collided with him at the crossroads near the school.
Makwana suffered serious injuries to his head, forehead and left hand. The report said the collision caused injuries that later proved fatal. After the crash, the truck driver left the spot without stopping, according to the complaint details cited in the report.
The incident also highlighted a delay in moving the injured rider to hospital. An ambulance was called through the 108 emergency service, but because it took time to arrive, Makwana was first taken by autorickshaw to Narol Circle. He was then transported by 108 ambulance to a hospital, where he died during treatment.
The case has been registered against the absconding truck driver by the K Division Traffic Police. The police are conducting further inquiries to identify the vehicle and its driver and to establish the circumstances of the collision.
The crash occurred at a junction near Apollo International School, a location where traffic interactions between two-wheelers and heavy vehicles can have severe consequences. The available report does not specify the road’s speed limit, the truck’s registration number, whether surveillance footage was recovered, or whether any eyewitnesses have been formally recorded.
The reported sequence also places emergency access alongside driver accountability in the case. While the police investigation will focus on the collision and the fleeing driver, the movement of the injured rider—from the crash site to an autorickshaw, then to an ambulance and hospital—forms part of the circumstances described in the report.
The K Division Traffic Police investigation is continuing. Further official details, including the identification of the truck driver and the outcome of the police inquiry, are awaited.
