Greater Noida street lights will be upgraded ahead of Diwali, with the authority ordering illumination of all city entry gates and major roundabouts, along with improvements in sectors, villages and parks. The instructions were issued by Greater Noida Authority Additional Chief Executive Officer Prerna Singh during a review meeting of the electrical engineering department.
Singh directed officials to complete and switch on all essential lighting works before the festival. The review covered the progress of street-light installation on major roads, at entry points, around roundabouts and in residential sectors. Officials were told to give priority to all works linked to the festival deadline.
The lighting programme includes 17 villages where installation work is already under way. These include Tilpata, Kulesara, Chhapraula and Khodna Khurd. The authority has directed its officials to complete the installations and make the lights operational before Diwali, with the stated aim of improving night-time lighting in these areas.
The authority also ordered the installation of street lights in parks in Sector 2, Sector 3 and Sector 12, among other sectors. The review therefore extends beyond prominent roads and gateways to public spaces and residential areas, where lighting is managed as part of the wider civic infrastructure network.
The meeting also examined the construction of 33-kilovolt substations at Badalpur and Astauli. Six months remain in the scheduled construction period for the two substations, but Singh instructed officials to accelerate the work and complete the facilities ahead of the deadline. The authority said the substations are intended to improve electricity supply in the areas they serve and strengthen the power infrastructure to meet rising requirements.
Electricity-related works in the six per cent abadi plots allotted to farmers were also reviewed. Officials were instructed to complete pending works in these areas by November. The locations mentioned in the review include Khairpur, Khodna Khurd, Patwari, Chhoti Milak and Itaida, where electricity-related work is currently in progress.
The review additionally covered drain construction works. Singh directed officials to complete the tender process for proposed projects within the prescribed schedule and begin construction after the tenders are finalised. Officials were also asked to monitor the progress of all works and keep implementation aligned with the stated timelines.
The instructions place several different infrastructure tasks under parallel deadlines: festival-related lighting before Diwali, electricity works in the allotted plots by November, and faster completion of the two substations despite six months remaining in their scheduled construction period. The authority’s electrical engineering and drain departments were involved in the review, along with senior managers and other officials.
