Greater Noida street lights will be upgraded ahead of Diwali, with the Greater Noida Authority directing officials to illuminate all major entry gates, roundabouts, selected parks, sectors and villages before the festival. The authority has also ordered faster work on two under-construction 33 kV substations and pending electricity-related works in plots allotted to farmers.
The instructions were issued by Greater Noida Authority Additional Chief Executive Officer Prerna Singh during a review meeting of the electrical engineering department. Officials assessed the progress of street-light installation on major roads, city entry points, roundabouts and residential sectors, with the stated aim of completing and switching on the lights before Diwali.
The plan covers public areas as well as settlements on the city’s periphery. Street-light installation is currently under way in 17 villages, including Tilpata, Kulesara, Chhapraula and Khodna Khurd. Singh directed the department to complete the work in these villages before the festival so that residents have improved lighting at night.
The authority has also ordered the installation of street lights in parks in Sector 2, Sector 3 and Sector 12, among other sectors. The review focused on improving lighting in prominent public spaces, residential areas and village settlements rather than limiting the festival preparations to the city’s main gateways and roundabouts.
The meeting also examined construction progress at the 33 kV substations being built in Badalpur and Astauli. Six months remain in the scheduled construction period for the two facilities, but the authority has instructed officials to accelerate the work and complete the substations ahead of schedule. The facilities are intended to strengthen electricity supply in the areas they serve as demand rises.
Electricity works in the six per cent abadi plots allotted to farmers were reviewed as well. Pending works in areas including Khairpur, Khodna Khurd, Patwari, Chhoti Milak and Iteda have been directed to be completed by November. The instruction covers the provision of necessary electricity facilities in these allotted plots.
The review also included drain construction works. Singh directed officials to complete the tender process for proposed works within the prescribed timeframe and begin construction after the tendering stage. Department officials were asked to monitor progress and follow the specified schedules.
The meeting was attended by Drain Department Senior Manager Manoj Kumar Sachan, Electrical Engineering Department Senior Manager Ajit Bhai Patel, Ashwini Chaturvedi, Saurabh Bhardwaj and other officials. The authority’s immediate milestones are the completion and commissioning of festival-related street lights before Diwali, electricity works in the allotted plots by November, and faster progress on the two substations.
