Greater Noida has launched four new electric-bus routes connecting key destinations including Noida Airport, Dankaur, Knowledge Park and Yamuna City, taking the number of electric buses operating in the area to 35 from 25. The expansion is intended to improve public transport access for residents, commuters and travellers across the region.
The new services have been introduced on routes where passenger demand has been identified as relatively high, according to Sunny Yadav, senior manager for urban services. Officials are conducting regular surveys to assess demand and plan further increases in bus numbers and route coverage in phases.
The first new route will run from Sector 37 in Noida to Dankaur town through Phase 2, Pari Chowk and Bilaspur. The second will connect Botanical Garden with Noida Airport, passing through the Advant building, Pari Chowk and Gaur Yamuna City.
The third route will operate between the Advant building and Knowledge Park 2. Its stops and corridors include Knowledge Park 1, Swarn Nagri, Jagat Farm and Pari Chowk. The fourth route will connect Botanical Garden with Mirzapur Cut in Yamuna City, passing through the Advant building and Pari Chowk.
Before the expansion, electric buses were operating on four routes in Greater Noida. The addition of four routes has doubled the network to eight routes in the area. The new services link residential, commercial, educational and emerging urban-development zones, while also connecting Greater Noida with destinations in Noida and the Yamuna region.
The expansion is part of a wider electric-bus deployment across the area. A total of 100 electric buses were put on the roads in June, with 50 operating in the Noida Authority area and 25 each in the areas administered by the Greater Noida Authority and the Yamuna Authority. Following the latest expansion, the number reported for Greater Noida has increased to 35.
Charging infrastructure is also being expanded to support regular operations. More than four charging stations have been established at different locations in Greater Noida so far. The stated objective is to ensure that buses can be charged on time and continue operating without disruption.
According to Yadav, future decisions on additional routes and bus deployment will be based on the results of passenger-demand surveys. Officials intend to use the surveys to connect more sectors and nearby towns with public transport as the electric-bus network expands.
