Erravelli Land Survey Ordered Over 45-Acre Records Gap

The Telangana government has ordered an immediate survey of land in Erravelli and neighbouring Venkatapuram villages after officials found a 45-acre discrepancy between revenue records and the land identified on the ground, with notices to be issued to former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and family members whose properties adjoin the disputed survey number.

Chief minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to notify the survey during a review meeting on Tuesday at the MCRHRD Institute. The meeting examined the progress of an inquiry into land records in Erravelli village of Markook mandal in Siddipet district, which the chief minister had ordered during a legislative Assembly discussion on September 16.

Officials told the meeting that revenue records showed 388 acres under survey number 325 in Erravelli. A recent survey, however, identified 343 acres, leaving a difference of 45 acres. The government has ordered a fresh survey covering Erravelli and the adjacent Venkatapuram village to account for the gap and establish the extent and status of the land.

Revenue officials are expected to issue notices to landowners whose properties adjoin survey number 325, including KCR and members of his family, seeking the submission of their land records. The notices are part of the inquiry into the discrepancy and do not, by themselves, establish any wrongdoing by the landowners.

The review was attended by chief secretary Sanjai Jaju, principal secretary to the Chief Minister Seshadri, and members of committees appointed to investigate land irregularities and alleged irregularities linked to the Dharani land records system. The source report did not specify when the notices would be served or how long the survey would take.

Reddy also directed officials to distribute any land identified through the survey to eligible local farmers. The government has not provided details in the supplied report on the legal status of the land, the criteria for identifying beneficiaries or the process that will be followed before any allotment.

Separately, the chief minister ordered the construction of a Telangana Martyrs’ Colony for families of those who died during the Telangana movement. The plan includes housing plots for the families and infrastructure for the colony, with the housing department assigned responsibility for construction. Officials were directed to complete the colony by June 2.

Reddy further suggested establishing a Young India Integrated School and an education hub on available land within Velikatta village in Kondapaka mandal. Assigned lands and land designated for the Mission Bhagiratha project are to be excluded from that proposal.

During the meeting, the chief minister also advised officials to use reservoir and tank water judiciously in view of El Niño conditions. He directed them to identify people allegedly using Mallanna Sagar water without authorisation and take appropriate action. The next formal step on the Erravelli land issue is the notification and survey ordered by the government.
