Cork City is witnessing a transformative step towards the future with the launch of the public consultation on the Cork Docklands regeneration project. As part of the proposed variation to the 2022-2028 Cork City Development Plan (CDP)
this bold initiative is set to transform 147 hectares (360 acres) of riverside land into one of Ireland’s largest urban regeneration projects. The public consultation, which began on April 30, 2025, offers citizens an opportunity to voice their opinions and contribute to shaping the development of their city. This process will run until May 28, 2025, and provides several ways for Cork’s residents to engage with the project team. Two public consultation days are planned, where residents can view the draft documents and discuss their views with the project team. The first consultation will be held at the Clayton Hotel on May 7, and the second at Millennium Hall, Cork City Hall, on May 14. Additional engagement is also planned during the European Maritime Days event on May 24.

With over 6,000 people already employed on the project and 640 homes under construction, the transformation of Cork Docklands is well underway.
