Trichy MP Advocates for Comprehensive Flight Safety Audit to Ensure Aircraft Airworthiness Bottom of Form

In the wake of a recent emergency landing by an Air India Express flight at Trichy airport, Trichy MP Durai Vaiko has urgently called on the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to audit the airworthiness of all passenger aircraft. This plea arises amid rising safety concerns following a mid-air scare that left passengers shaken and questioning airline reliability.

At the Trichy collectorate, Vaiko emphasized his intention to raise this issue in Parliament, advocating for airlines to maintain their fleets with regular checks and necessary upgrades. “The repeated incidents of flight cancellations, technical snags, and delays have created a climate of fear among the public,” he noted, urging the Union government to enforce stringent oversight and conduct periodic safety evaluations of aircraft, particularly regarding their flying hours. This emphasis on safety reflects broader concerns for passenger well-being in an industry where reliability is crucial. The stress of flying has intensified with recent events, highlighting the need for robust safety measures as travel resumes post-pandemic.

Simultaneously, Vaiko, along with Perambalur MP Arun Nehru and Karur MP S. Jothimani, reviewed projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). While 27 projects are currently underway across 404 panchayats, concerns were raised about ongoing funding reductions. Vaiko asserted, “MGNREGA is crucial for providing rural employment, and adequate funding is necessary to ensure workers are engaged for the full 100 days.” Together, these issues underscore a commitment to community welfare, emphasizing safety in aviation and employment opportunities, thereby fostering sustainable growth for a safer, more prosperous India.
