Traffic Curbs on Whitefield Road for Bengaluru Midnight Marathon

Bengaluru is gearing up for the 17th edition of the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon, scheduled from December 14 to 15 at the Karnataka Trade Promotion Organisation (KTPO) premises in Whitefield. In light of the event, the city’s traffic police have implemented a series of traffic restrictions to ensure smooth vehicular movement and facilitate a hassle-free marathon experience for participants and residents alike.

The event, organised by Rotary Bengaluru IT Corridor, is expected to attract participants from over 20 countries. With such an international turnout, local authorities are leaving no stone unturned to prevent congestion on Whitefield Road and its adjoining areas. Traffic diversions have been announced, and alternative routes will be operational on December 14 to accommodate the influx of marathon attendees and manage regular traffic. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow the guidelines issued by traffic officials.

While the marathon celebrates fitness and global camaraderie, it also raises pertinent civic concerns. Residents of Whitefield have expressed apprehensions about the impact of road closures on daily commutes and emergency services. However, local businesses and communities are optimistic about the economic boost brought by an event of this scale. The authorities have assured that adequate measures are in place to minimise disruptions.

From a sustainability standpoint, the marathon promotes eco-friendly practices, urging participants and spectators to use public transport or carpool to reduce carbon emissions. Event organisers have also pledged to adopt green measures, such as waste management and reduced plastic usage, making the event a step forward in sustainable urban living.
