TGSRTC Adds 7,000 Special Buses as Dasara Travel Rush Builds

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will operate 7,000 special buses during the Dasara festival period to handle increased passenger demand from Hyderabad and districts across Telangana, with additional services planned for the return journey on October 25 and 26.

According to the corporation’s plan, passenger traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on October 9, 10, 16 and 17. TGSRTC has scheduled special services from major departure points in Hyderabad, including MGBS, JBS, Uppal’s Nalla Cheruvu, Aramgarh, LB Nagar Cross Roads, KPHB, Boyinpally and Gachibowli.

The services will connect passengers travelling from the state capital and other parts of Telangana to their hometowns during the festival. The corporation said the arrangements were intended to prevent transportation difficulties and help passengers reach their destinations safely during one of the year’s busiest travel periods.

TGSRTC has also planned additional arrangements for passengers returning after the festival. Special return services will operate on October 25 and 26, when demand is expected to rise on congested routes. The corporation said it would bring buses back quickly, including empty buses where necessary, to avoid inconvenience to passengers waiting for services.

The corporation has revised fares for special buses by up to 1.5 times. The higher fares will apply only to special services operating within Telangana and to other states on October 9, 10, 16 and 17, as well as on October 25 and 26. Regular fares will continue to apply on normal bus services.

Women travelling on Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary, Metro Express Regular and special buses will continue to receive free bus travel under the state government’s Mahalaxmi scheme, according to the report. The benefit applies to the specified regular and special services operated during the Dasara period.

The special-bus deployment covers multiple TGSRTC zones and operating areas, including Hyderabad, Greater Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Warangal, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda and Rangareddy. The corporation has advised passengers seeking information about routes and services to contact its call centre at 040-69440000 or 040-23450033.

The special services and revised fares will remain in effect on the dates announced by TGSRTC, with the return-journey arrangements scheduled for October 25 and 26.
