Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2°C on Wednesday as October heat intensified across the city, with the mercury rising to 35.8°C at Lohegaon and the local weather observatory forecasting a further increase over the next two days.
Residents experienced intense afternoon heat, with conditions feeling more like summer despite the month being October. Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 21.5°C. Isolated parts of the city saw partly cloudy skies during the afternoon, but the overall pattern remained hot and uncomfortable.
The temperature rise has direct implications for daily life across Pune, particularly during afternoon travel, outdoor work and other activities exposed to the heat. The combination of high daytime temperatures and relatively cooler nights was reported across parts of Maharashtra, producing sharp variations in conditions between afternoon and night.
The heat was not limited to Pune. Amravati recorded Maharashtra’s highest maximum temperature at 39°C, while Yavatmal reached 38.2°C, Akola 37.9°C, Wardha 37.6°C and Nagpur 36.4°C. In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recorded 36.5°C and Dharashiv 34.2°C.
Parts of Akola, Buldhana and Nagpur experienced partly cloudy conditions or light rain, highlighting the contrasting weather conditions across the state. Hot and sunny afternoons persisted in several areas, while some locations recorded cooler nights.
The Konkan and Mumbai regions also continued to experience heat. Santacruz recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4°C, while Ratnagiri reached 37.5°C. For Pune, the immediate weather outlook remains focused on rising maximum temperatures over the next two days, according to the city’s weather observatory.
