Telangana Outsourcing Employees Face Pay Pressure as Owaisi Seeks Hike

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has urged the Telangana government to increase the salaries of outsourcing employees working across government departments, institutions, corporations and societies, citing rising living costs and delays in wage payments in some government bodies.

In a representation to the state government, Owaisi sought a substantial enhancement in the monthly remuneration of outsourcing staff. He said the existing salaries had become insufficient for employees to meet basic family requirements after the cost of living increased since the previous revision.

The demand covers outsourcing employees engaged across a range of state-run institutions, including government departments, corporations and societies. These workers are employed outside the regular government service structure but perform duties within public institutions and government-linked bodies.

Owaisi referred to G.O.Ms.No.60, issued on June 11, 2021, under which the previous government had increased the remuneration of outsourcing employees by more than 30 per cent. He said the latest demand should be considered in view of the period since that revision and the financial difficulties faced by employees.

“The cost of living had increased considerably since the last revision, making the existing salaries insufficient to meet basic family requirements,” Owaisi said in the representation. He also cited the employees’ continued services across government departments and institutions while seeking a substantial increase in their monthly remuneration.

The representation also raised the issue of delayed salary payments. Owaisi informed the government that outsourcing employees in some government societies were not receiving their wages on time. He requested the state to issue instructions to all departments, institutions, corporations and societies to ensure that monthly salaries are paid without delay.

The intervention places two administrative issues before the Telangana government: whether the remuneration fixed after the 2021 revision remains adequate for outsourcing staff, and whether government-linked bodies are releasing wages within the expected monthly payment cycle. The representation does not announce any government decision on either issue.

Any revision in remuneration would require consideration by the state government and could affect outsourcing employees working across multiple departments and institutions. The immediate request is for the government to examine the existing pay levels and issue directions to ensure timely payment of salaries.
