Gurugram residents will be allowed to buy and use only CSIR-NEERI-approved green crackers during restricted Diwali windows, with sales limited to 23 designated locations and a complete ban set to return on 9 November 2026, according to the district administration.
The administration has temporarily restored the licences of firecracker traders so they can sell approved green crackers until 6 November. The permission follows the Supreme Court’s relaxation of the complete firecracker ban in Delhi-NCR, the report said, citing a district official.
Residents may burst green crackers only between 6 am and 7 am and between 8 pm and 10 pm on 7 and 8 November. The administration said the timing restrictions would apply to the use of crackers, while licensed traders can sell them only during the temporary licence period ending on 6 November.
Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh said 23 sites had been selected for the sale of green crackers in Gurugram and its surrounding administrative areas. He said licensed shopkeepers could sell crackers until 6 November, while the use of crackers would remain limited to the two specified time windows on 7 and 8 November. A complete ban will come into force again from 9 November, he said.
The designated locations include the ground near Vatika Chowk in Badshahpur, the open ground in Sector 9, the stadium in Babupur village, the HSVP ground in Sector 5, the Gaushala ground near Mahavir Chowk and Leisure Valley ground in Sector 29. In Manesar, sales will be permitted in front of the tehsil office in Sector 2 of IMT Manesar and near the power house in Garhi Harsaru.
The approved sites in rural Gurugram include the community centres in Chandu and Baghnaki villages. In Sohna, the locations are panchayat land near the toll tax point in Sancholi village, panchayat land near Nimoth Road and land in front of the underpass in Ghamroj village. The list also includes the sports ground of the government senior secondary school in Bhora Kalan, the sports ground in Hajipur, Mansaram Vatika in Taj Nagar and the gymnasium on Sultanpur Road in Kaliyawas village.
Within the Sohna municipal council area, the designated site is Devi Lal Stadium. In the Pataudi-Mandi area, the locations are Pataudi’s Ramlila Maidan, the ground opposite Peeli Dharamshala near MLA School in Heli Mandi and the new grain market in Pataudi, subject to permission from the market committee. The final listed site is near the community centre on Jhajjar Road in Farrukhnagar.
The district administration said monitoring teams had been formed at the district and block levels to enforce the sale and usage rules. The restrictions place responsibility on traders to sell only approved products and on enforcement teams to monitor both the 23 sale points and the prescribed time windows. The full ban is scheduled to resume on 9 November.
