Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express encountered significant inconvenience on Monday as technical malfunctions with the train’s doors resulted in delays and discomfort.
Upon arrival at Surat station, commuters faced an unexpected obstacle when the doors failed to open, impeding their disembarkation. Despite multiple attempts, the automated door system remained unresponsive, compelling technical personnel to manually intervene, enabling passengers to alight the train after enduring approximately 45 minutes of inconvenience. Consequently, the train reached Mumbai Central an hour behind schedule, with its arrival time noted at approximately 12:35 noon.
An advocate for passenger rights expressed apprehension regarding the incident, underscoring the paramount importance of reliability and safety in India’s premier rail services, such as the Vande Bharat Express. In response to inquiries, a senior official of WR disclosed that a technical glitch in a door of the C-10 coach triggered a cascading malfunction affecting all automatic doors. Swift intervention by technical personnel and officials facilitated the resolution of the issue, permitting the train to resume its journey from Surat following a 50-minute delay. Despite the inconvenience incurred, officials ensured the continuous operation of the air conditioning system throughout the ordeal. Furthermore, provisions were made to alleviate passengers’ discomfort, including the provision of additional drinking water and tea/coffee. Such measures aimed to mitigate the adverse effects of the delay, emphasising the commitment to passenger welfare amid unforeseen technical challenges.
