Delta Electronics has begun manufacturing VIVOTEK smart surveillance cameras at its Krishnagiri plant in Tamil Nadu, marking a local production push aimed at India’s security infrastructure, transportation hubs and commercial facilities.
The Taiwanese electronics maker commenced production on Wednesday under its VIVOTEK security brand. Initial manufacturing at the Krishnagiri facility will focus on VIVOTEK’s commercial-series cameras, according to the company.
Delta said it plans to gradually widen the product portfolio at the plant by introducing mid- to high-end surveillance models with artificial intelligence capabilities. These models are intended for advanced applications, including smart cities and intelligent transportation systems.
The move places the Krishnagiri facility within a technology supply chain that serves more than conventional commercial security requirements. Surveillance systems are increasingly connected to the operation of transport facilities, public infrastructure and large commercial sites. Delta said local manufacturing would help it respond to demand for security infrastructure in India while providing technical support closer to customers and partners.
“By integrating VIVOTEK’s advanced edge AI analytics and robust cybersecurity with Delta’s manufacturing scale in Krishnagiri, we deliver shorter lead times and agile technical support for India’s critical infrastructure, transportation hubs, and commercial sectors,” said Hong Wu, General Manager of Delta’s Building Automation Business Group.
Edge AI analytics refers to processing capability built into or located close to a camera or other device, rather than relying entirely on a remote system. In the company’s stated product strategy, that capability will form part of the higher-end surveillance models being phased into production at Krishnagiri. Delta also highlighted cybersecurity as a feature of the VIVOTEK offering.
The company said it would scale up the plant’s manufacturing capacity to support VIVOTEK’s requirements as demand for security infrastructure grows in India. It also plans to expand partner training across the country. The training programme is intended to support the wider network involved in deploying and maintaining the company’s surveillance products, although Delta did not disclose a target for the number of partners or the investment planned for the expansion.
Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India, said the local production programme reflected the company’s commitment to India’s industrial ecosystem. Delta did not provide details of the plant’s current production volume, planned capacity, investment value or the timeline for introducing the mid- to high-end AI-enabled models.
The Krishnagiri plant’s next phase will therefore depend on the company’s planned capacity expansion and the phased addition of new VIVOTEK models. Delta said the facility would initially manufacture commercial-series cameras before broadening production for smart-city, intelligent-transportation and other advanced applications.
