Escalating tensions between India and Pakistan have led to significant disruptions in rail and bus services in border areas, affecting daily commuters and logistics operations.
The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has suspended overnight bus services in Amritsar, Pathankot, and Chandigarh due to safety concerns. Officials stated that buses will now stop in Hoshiarpur and Jasur after 7 pm. Special buses have been arranged to bring stranded Himachali residents back home. In addition, Western Railway has suspended several night-time trains passing through Bhuj, Gujarat, en route to Rajasthan, due to security concerns. Some trains have also been short-terminated and cancelled. Train services to key border regions in Punjab, including Amritsar and Firozpur, have been suspended as blackout measures take effect. Long-distance connectivity has been significantly affected across Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Punjab.
These disruptions have not only affected daily commuters but also have implications for trade and logistics in the region. The suspension of services has led to delays in the transportation of goods and has impacted businesses relying on timely deliveries. The situation remains fluid, and authorities are closely monitoring developments to ensure the safety and security of passengers and to restore services as soon as possible.
