Experts at the event stressed that healthy soils are essential not only for maintaining production levels but also for improving crop quality and reducing cultivation costs. They encouraged growers to adopt practices such as biofertiliser application, composting, green manuring, and other biological methods that strengthen soil ecosystems and improve nutrient availability. Such approaches are increasingly being viewed as practical solutions for reducing dependence on synthetic inputs while improving farm resilience against climate-related stresses. The conversation also reflected a wider transition underway across agricultural regions in Maharashtra, where farmers are exploring natural and integrated farming systems to address declining soil fertility.
