Pune Metro will extend service hours and increase train frequency during Ganeshotsav to manage the expected movement of devotees and commuters across the city, MahaMetro said in an announcement reported on September 10, 2026.
During peak periods of the festival, trains will operate at five-minute intervals across the entire Pune Metro network, according to the announcement. The revised arrangements are intended to support passengers travelling to central Pune and other areas during the celebrations.
MahaMetro has also issued guidance on station usage and route changes. Passengers travelling from the Swargate side towards the central peth areas on Corridor 1, which connects Swargate with Pimpri-Chinchwad, have been advised to use Kasba Peth Metro station instead of changing corridors at District Court Metro station.
Passengers arriving from the Vanaz side have been advised to use Deccan Gymkhana Metro station. Those travelling from the Ramwadi side have been asked to use Pune Municipal Corporation Metro station. The station guidance is aimed at distributing passenger movement across nearby stations during the festival period.
MahaMetro has asked devotees travelling for Ganesh darshan to use Mahatma Phule Mandai Metro station only for their return journey. The station will operate in a one-way arrangement to regulate crowd movement.
Under the arrangement, Gate 3 near the Lokmanya Tilak statue will be used only for entry into Mahatma Phule Mandai station. Gate 2 on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road will be available for passengers exiting the station.
The announcement does not specify the exact dates covered by the revised timetable or the extended daily operating hours. Passengers using the metro during Ganeshotsav will therefore need to follow station-level instructions and the operational guidance issued by MahaMetro during the festival period.
