A long-distance road journey connecting Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad has highlighted both the progress and persistent shortcomings of western India’s highway network, offering a snapshot of how major infrastructure investments are reshaping regional mobility while exposing unresolved urban bottlenecks.
