Pavitra Portal Teacher Recruitment Caps Interviews at 10 Marks

The Maharashtra government’s Pavitra Portal teacher recruitment process has capped the interview component at 10 marks to limit the scope for arbitrary decisions by private school managements, Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh said. The interview-based selection round covers 10,328 vacancies in private-management schools, with 11,493 candidates recommended for interviews and teaching-skill tests.

The general merit list for the regular round under the Teacher Aptitude and Intelligence Test 2025 has been published for the interview-based selection category. The recommended candidates have been shortlisted against 27,145 preference choices across the available posts.

According to the education department, interviews and teaching-skill assessments must be completed between 3 and 25 November. Candidates whose names appear in the recommendations have been asked to contact the relevant appointing authorities for the next steps in the recruitment process.

The decision to restrict interviews to 10 marks is intended to reduce the discretion available to private school managements during selection. Singh said the fixed marks criteria would make the process more transparent. The report did not specify the complete marks distribution for the recruitment process beyond the interview component.

The largest number of recommendations is for posts covering Classes 6 to 10. For Classes 1 to 5, 1,609 vacancies are available and candidates have been recommended against 4,478 preference choices. For Classes 6 to 8, 4,505 vacancies are linked to 10,792 recommended preference choices. For Classes 9 and 10, 4,214 vacancies are linked to 11,884 preference choices.

The figures show that the number of preference-based recommendations is substantially higher than the number of vacancies because candidates may be recommended against multiple preferences during the portal-based process. The department has reported the overall figures as 10,328 vacancies, 11,493 candidates and 27,145 preference choices.

The process also includes a complaint mechanism for selections made under the non-interview category. A state-level grievance redressal and correction committee has been formed to examine complaints related to those selections. Candidates have been asked to submit complaints in the prescribed format by 7 November 2026 through the email address published for the process: edupavitra2025grcc@gmail.com.

The education commissioner has also urged candidates to report any demand for money during recruitment to the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the education department. The advisory places complaints and oversight at the centre of the next stage, as candidates move from portal-based recommendations to interviews, teaching-skill assessments and appointment decisions.

The immediate deadlines are the 7 November cut-off for complaints under the non-interview selection category and the 25 November deadline for completing interviews and teaching-skill tests for the interview-based round.
