Noida International Airport Set To Begin Operations October 30 With Direct Flights

Noida International Airport at Jewar is poised to commence commercial operations on October 30, 2025, marking a transformative moment for air connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR). Officials confirmed that the airport’s first phase will link at least ten cities across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, providing a major boost to passenger travel and cargo logistics.

Spread across 1,334 hectares, the airport features a 3,900-metre runway and a Phase 1 terminal designed to handle 12 million passengers annually, with full capacity expected to reach 70 million after all four development phases. Experts indicate that initial passenger traffic could reach approximately six million in the first operational year. Airlines such as IndiGo and Akasa Air are expected to operate from the airport at launch. Construction work has largely been completed, with critical infrastructure including the Air Traffic Control tower, aerobridges, baggage handling systems, and security installations ready for operations. Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) trials are underway to ensure safety, efficiency, and seamless coordination among airlines, ground staff, and airport personnel. Security clearance for airside operations has already been granted by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, with the airport awaiting the final aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

The project had experienced multiple delays, originally scheduled for a 2024 launch. The Uttar Pradesh government imposed daily penalties on the developer to ensure timely progress. Officials now confirm the project is on track, signalling a significant milestone in the region’s aviation infrastructure. The airport is expected to serve not only as a major civil aviation hub but also as a cargo gateway for the NCR. Experts emphasise its strategic significance, citing the potential to decongest Delhi’s existing airports and improve connectivity for business and leisure travellers alike. The terminal is being developed with passenger-friendly initiatives, including free WiFi, dedicated children’s zones, and library facilities, aligning with sustainable and inclusive urban infrastructure goals.

In parallel, Hindon Airport continues to expand, currently serving sixteen cities but facing capacity constraints due to limited aircraft parking bays. Officials have requested additional land for expansion to meet rising demand, highlighting the ongoing need for strategic planning in regional air transport infrastructure. With Noida International Airport’s inauguration, the NCR will gain a modern, eco-conscious aviation facility designed to meet growing urban mobility needs while supporting economic and commercial activity. The airport is expected to reshape air travel patterns and enhance cargo logistics, demonstrating the state’s commitment to sustainable and equitable urban development.
