Nashik Command Centre Gets Rs 30 Crore Push Ahead of Kumbh 2027

The Nashik Municipal Corporation has floated a Rs 30 crore tender to build a new command and control centre at Adgaon for security, traffic management and civic coordination during the 2027 Kumbh Mela, with the facility planned as part of an integrated surveillance network covering Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

According to the tender document, the selected agency will supply, install, integrate, test and commission the command centre infrastructure and will also be responsible for its operation and maintenance. The last date for submitting bids is October 31, while civic officials plan to issue the work order by mid-November to enable early implementation.

The proposed centre will be located at the rural police headquarters in Adgaon, on Nashik’s outskirts. It will receive data from CCTV cameras, drones, sensors and Internet of Things-based devices deployed across the Kumbh areas. The systems will be brought onto a common platform, allowing officials to monitor incidents on geographic information system-based maps and initiate responses under standard operating procedures, project documents prepared by the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd state.

The surveillance and monitoring infrastructure is planned for mela areas, ghats, approach roads, transit hubs, accommodation facilities and parking zones across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. The proposed technology package includes artificial intelligence-enabled CCTV surveillance, advanced video analytics, automatic number plate recognition, crowd-density monitoring, drone surveillance, smart parking management and intelligent traffic management systems.

An NMC official said the Adgaon facility would operate as a key hub for security, surveillance and civic management. It is expected to be integrated with Nashik Smart City’s existing command centre at the city police commissioner’s office and with the proposed Trimbakeshwar Command and Control Centre. Together, the facilities are intended to form the central monitoring and response mechanism for the Kumbh congregation.

The scale of the planned system reflects the expected size of the event. The next Kumbh Mela is projected to draw around eight to ten crore pilgrims to Nashik city and approximately four crore pilgrims to Trimbakeshwar, according to the report. The event will formally begin with Dhwajarohan on October 31, while the three major Amrit Snans are scheduled for August 2, August 31 and September 12, 2027.

The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority recently approved the project for implementation through the municipal corporation. The work will be executed by the Nashik Smart City Corporation, which functions under the NMC. Officials have also said that the command centres and surveillance network are intended to remain operational after the festival, supporting public safety, traffic management and wider urban monitoring.

The immediate milestone is the October 31 bid deadline, followed by the planned issuance of the work order in mid-November. The tender process will determine the agency responsible for delivering and maintaining the new command centre.
