Scheduled for April 10, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 15:00 pm, the Panvel-Karjat Double Track Suburban Rail Corridor project will necessitate a temporary traffic block to ensure the safety and efficiency of construction activities. The specific section affected by the maintenance work is located at KM 07.560, near the Chikhle Bridge, on the Pune channel of the expressway. To facilitate the smooth execution of the project, all types of vehicles, including light and heavy vehicles, will be prohibited from accessing the Pune-bound channel during the designated hours.

In compliance with the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, sections 115 and 116(1)(c), the traffic diversion measures aim to minimize congestion and inconvenience to drivers while ensuring the safety of all road users. Alternate routes have been identified to redirect traffic and mitigate disruptions caused by the temporary closure. For light vehicles traveling from Mumbai to Pune, the suggested diversion route begins at Kalamboli Circle, routing via the Mumbai-Pune National Highway. Similarly, all vehicles will be rerouted from Kalamboli Circle to Karanjade, Palaspe, and onto the Mumbai-Pune National Highway.

Furthermore, vehicles traveling from Pune to Mumbai will be redirected onto the Pune channel of the expressway. Light vehicles, specifically, will be guided onto the old Mumbai-Pune highway, followed by a route through Shingroba Ghat to Magic Point, rejoining the Pune channel of the expressway. It is imperative for commuters to adhere to the traffic advisory and follow the designated diversion routes to ensure their safety and facilitate the timely completion of the infrastructure work. The traffic restrictions will remain in effect until the completion of the Panvel-Karjat Double Track Suburban Rail Corridor project by MRDCL. By proactively managing traffic flow and implementing strategic diversion plans, authorities aim to minimize disruptions and optimize the efficiency of the construction process, ultimately enhancing the connectivity and infrastructure of the Mumbai-Pune corridor.
