Mumbai has significantly bolstered its coastal security measures. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG), in collaboration with the Indian Navy and local law enforcement agencies, has elevated its readiness to the highest level, ensuring the safeguarding of Maharashtra’s extensive coastline, including the bustling metropolis of Mumbai.

Strategic deployments have been executed, with sea-based platforms positioned at critical junctures along the coast. These assets are complemented by advanced surveillance systems, including radars, automatic identification systems, and day-night cameras, forming a comprehensive Coastal Surveillance Network (CSN). This network facilitates real-time monitoring and rapid response to any maritime threats. The heightened alertness is not solely a military endeavour. Recognising the pivotal role of local communities in coastal security, the Maharashtra government has initiated outreach programmes targeting fishermen and coastal residents. These initiatives aim to transform community members into vigilant observers, reporting any suspicious activities to authorities promptly.

Furthermore, the state has cancelled leaves for key officials in health and disaster management sectors, ensuring that essential services remain uninterrupted and responsive during this period of heightened alert. Mock drills and the establishment of war rooms across districts underscore the comprehensive approach adopted to address potential emergencies.
