MMRC Expands Green Initiative 2600 Trees to Line ‘Metro 3’ Route

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has announced plans to plant an additional 2600 trees along the ‘Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3’ route. This initiative comes after the successful planting of 500 trees near 13 stations on the same route, marking a substantial expansion of greenery across the metro infrastructure.

The decision to plant more trees aligns with MMRC’s commitment to creating greener and more eco-friendly station premises along the ‘Metro 3’ line, as per the undertaking submitted in the High Court. The aim is to transform the areas surrounding the metro stations into lush green spaces, enhancing not only the aesthetic appeal but also the environmental quality of the surroundings.

Previously, MMRC had planted over 500 trees near stations such as Seepz, MIDC, Shitladevi, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, Science Museum, Mahalakshmi, Mumbai Central, CSMT, Churchgate, Vidhan Bhawan, and Cuffe Parade. With the upcoming plantation of 2600 additional trees near other stations, the ‘Metro 3’ route is set to become a verdant corridor amidst the urban landscape of Mumbai.

MMRC has already awarded three contracts for tree plantation at the original site, indicating the seriousness and dedication with which the corporation is pursuing its green initiatives. By proactively investing in tree planting and green infrastructure, MMRC is not only fulfilling its environmental responsibilities but also contributing to the overall well-being of the city and its residents. This expansion of greenery along the ‘Metro 3’ corridor underscores MMRC’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. As Mumbai continues to grow and expand its infrastructure, initiatives like these play a crucial role in mitigating environmental impact and creating a more livable and resilient urban environment for generations to come.
