Mira-Bhayandar NH-8 to See Major Infrastructure Upgrades

Mira-Bhayandar, 6th September 2024 – The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has unveiled an ambitious infrastructure enhancement plan for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway (NH-8) in Kashimira, Mira-Bhayandar. The project, which involves the construction of three vehicular underpasses (VUPs) and a foot-over-bridge (FOB), is estimated to cost approximately Rs 55 crore.

The vehicular underpasses will be strategically positioned at key intersections: Sangnai Signal, adjacent to Hotel Delhi Darbar; Pandurang Wadi, near Hotel Samrat; and directly in front of Hotel Western. Meanwhile, the foot-over-bridge will be constructed near Hotel Hilltop. This initiative is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the area, addressing long-standing concerns about frequent accidents and traffic congestion. The tendering process for these projects has been concluded, with contractors already selected. Construction is slated to commence in mid-September, following the Ganesh-Utsav festivities.

The project is anticipated to be completed by April 2025. A senior official involved in the project expressed gratitude towards Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for their support and cooperation in facilitating these developments. The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has granted the necessary permissions for the construction. However, the contractor is awaiting final approval from local police authorities before work can begin. The implementation of these infrastructure improvements is expected to alleviate traffic-related issues and enhance overall safety for both motorists and pedestrians. This development reflects NHAI’s commitment to addressing the growing traffic challenges on NH-8 and underscores the importance of continuous investment in road safety and infrastructure.
