The MHADA Konkan Board is preparing a lottery for around 1,000 homes in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with prices expected to range from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 42 lakh, according to a report by Loksatta-Mumbai published on September 11. The lottery is expected to include approximately 550 homes made available under the 20% inclusive housing scheme and another 450 homes from the Konkan Board’s own housing programme.
The board is expected to publish an advertisement for the lottery within a month, while the draw is scheduled to take place in November, the report said. The advertisement is currently being prepared by the board’s marketing department. The information was attributed to Dr Vishal Rathod, chief officer of the MHADA Konkan Board.
The proposed lottery is significant for applicants seeking relatively lower-cost homes in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The reported price range covers homes priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 42 lakh. The report did not provide a location-wise breakdown, unit sizes, income-group categories, eligibility conditions or the final number of homes in each category. These details are expected to be specified in the official advertisement.
Of the approximately 1,000 homes, around 550 will come from the 20% inclusive housing scheme, under which homes in private developer projects are made available through the housing authority. The remaining approximately 450 homes will be offered under the Konkan Board’s regular housing scheme.
The lottery will be smaller than the 8,000-home draw previously announced by the Konkan Board. That earlier plan was expected to include around 5,500 homes from the 20% scheme. According to the report, the state government subsequently transferred responsibility for the scheme from MHADA to municipal bodies. As a result, MHADA’s divisional boards can conduct lotteries only for homes that became available before August 12.
The Konkan Board received approximately 550 homes under the 20% scheme before that date. The board has therefore decided to include those homes in the forthcoming draw. The lottery is being described as the final Konkan Board draw for homes made available through this scheme.
The announcement follows the recent lottery for 2,640 homes conducted by the MHADA Mumbai Board. Applicants waiting for the Konkan Board’s offering will have to rely on the official advertisement for confirmed application dates, documentation requirements, eligibility rules, project locations and the final price schedule. The board’s advertisement is expected to be released within a month, with the draw planned for November.
