Mega Block on Central Railway Between Matunga and Mulund May 25

Passengers on Mumbai’s suburban rail network are advised to brace for delays and diversions this Sunday as Central Railway (CR) has announced a mega block between Matunga and Mulund for scheduled maintenance on May 25.

Simultaneously, Western Railway (WR) has announced a night block between Bhayandar and Borivali. According to a CR statement, the Matunga–Mulund Up and Down slow lines will remain affected from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm. During this period, services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10:14 am and 3:52 pm on the Down slow line will be diverted onto the Down fast line between Matunga and Mulund, halting only at major stations including Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund, before returning to the Down slow line. These services are expected to run approximately 15 minutes late. Similarly, Up slow services leaving Thane from 11:07 am to 3:51 pm will be diverted onto the Up fast line at Mulund and return to the Up slow line at Matunga, halting at the same intermediate stations. Other services arriving or departing from CSMT between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm will also face delays of up to 15 minutes.

Additionally, the Trans-Harbour line between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will be suspended from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm. Trains departing Thane for Vashi/Nerul/Panvel from 10:35 am to 4:07 pm, and those heading from Panvel/Nerul/Vashi to Thane from 10:25 am to 4:09 pm, will be cancelled. “These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused,” CR stated. On the Western line, WR has scheduled a night block on the fast corridors between Bhayandar and Borivali during the intervening night of May 24–25. The Up fast line will be affected from 11:30 pm to 3:00 am, while the Down fast line will remain blocked from 1:15 am to 4:45 am. Fast trains will be rerouted to slow lines between Virar/Vasai Road and Borivali, resulting in service cancellations.

WR has clarified that no day block will be in effect on Sunday, ensuring daytime services remain unaffected.
