Large parts of Maharashtra are expected to remain under active monsoon conditions, with weather authorities forecasting widespread rainfall across coastal, western and central districts while warning of isolated heavy showers in vulnerable regions. Climate researchers caution that below-normal seasonal rainfall does not eliminate the possibility of isolated extreme weather events, as rainfall is increasingly distributed unevenly across time and geography. For Maharashtra’s economy, the monsoon remains a critical driver of agricultural productivity, reservoir replenishment, urban water security and energy generation. At the same time, excessive rainfall in concentrated periods can interrupt logistics, affect industrial operations and increase maintenance costs for roads, railways and civic infrastructure.
