Larsen & Toubro has secured significant construction orders for high-rise residential projects in Mumbai and Bengaluru, along with a commercial tower in Hyderabad, highlighting fresh building activity across three major urban markets.
The orders were awarded by what L&T described as a prestigious client and were secured by the company’s residential, commercial buildings and factories business vertical. L&T classifies orders valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore as “significant”. The company did not disclose the exact combined value of the contracts.
In Mumbai, L&T will construct nine high-rise residential towers. Each tower will include one basement and 50 floors, according to the company’s statement. The scale of the project places it among the larger residential developments currently being undertaken in the city, where vertical construction is increasingly used to accommodate housing demand within constrained urban land areas.
The Bengaluru project will comprise nine residential towers, each with three basements and 25 floors. The basement levels indicate the inclusion of substantial below-grade infrastructure, although L&T’s statement did not provide details on parking capacity, amenities, project location or the expected completion timeline.
In Hyderabad, the company has received an order to construct a premium commercial tower with five basements and 22 floors. The project adds an office and commercial development component to the residential orders, giving the announcement a cross-city urban construction footprint rather than limiting it to a single real estate market.
L&T also said its business vertical had secured add-on orders for some ongoing projects. It did not identify the clients, disclose the locations of those projects or provide a separate value for the additional work.
The announcement comes as large Indian cities continue to see construction concentrated in multi-storey housing and commercial buildings. However, the company’s statement does not establish whether the projects are new developments, expansions of previously announced sites or part of larger mixed-use schemes. It also does not specify the developers, architects, land parcels, financing arrangements or projected handover dates.
L&T is an Indian multinational engaged in engineering, procurement and construction projects, high-tech manufacturing, products and services across multiple sectors and geographies. The company described the orders as part of its buildings-related business, but did not provide further operational details on mobilisation, workforce requirements or construction schedules.
The next confirmed step is the execution of the awarded residential and commercial building contracts, along with add-on work on L&T’s ongoing projects. Further details on project locations, timelines and contract values will depend on subsequent company disclosures.
