The Kodad job mela in Telangana is set to connect rural jobseekers with more than 3,500 employment opportunities when over 300 companies participate in the recruitment drive on September 19, according to Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy.
The event is being organised in coordination with Kodad MLA N Padmavathi Reddy and is aimed at young people from Suryapet, Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhongir, Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts. The recruitment drive is being supported by The Singareni Collieries Company Limited and the Industries Department.
The minister said Kodad would become a gateway to employment opportunities for rural youngsters whose educational qualifications had not translated into jobs. The event is designed to allow candidates to meet employers directly and attend interviews at a single location, reducing the need to identify vacancies independently or travel to Hyderabad for recruitment processes.
The job mela is expected to include opportunities for graduates in engineering, pharmacy and management, as well as diploma holders and other qualified candidates. The organisers are mobilising jobseekers from the five districts for the event.
The initiative addresses a practical access problem in the rural employment market. Candidates may have relevant qualifications but still face difficulties finding suitable vacancies, establishing contact with companies and reaching major urban centres for interviews. By bringing employers to Kodad, the organisers are attempting to reduce the geographic and logistical barriers that can prevent rural youth from entering organised-sector recruitment.
The event also places Kodad within a wider employment network covering districts that include both semi-urban centres and predominantly rural areas. For candidates from these locations, access to employers in one venue could reduce the time and travel involved in pursuing multiple recruitment opportunities in Hyderabad or other larger cities.
