Kasimedu Traffic Diversion Begins Today for 15-Day Sewer Repair

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police has announced a 15-day traffic diversion near Kasimedu from October 1 while Chennai Metro Water undertakes work to reconstruct a collapsed sewer door at the SN Chetty Road-Jeevarathinam Salai junction near Kasimedu signal.

The diversion affects buses, heavy vehicles, two-wheelers and light motor vehicles travelling between Ennore and Paris Corner. The Greater Chennai Traffic Police said the arrangements would remain in place for 15 days to facilitate the sewer-related work.

Buses and heavy vehicles travelling towards Ennore through the outgoing side of the SN Chetty Road-Jeevarathinam Salai signal junction will be diverted via Jeevarathinam Salai. They will then take a left and a subsequent right into VP Kovil Street before proceeding towards TH Road and the TH Road Toll Gate junction to continue their journey.

Two-wheelers and light motor vehicles travelling towards Ennore will follow a separate route. After entering Jeevarathinam Salai, vehicles will take a left and then a right into VP Kovil Street, continue along TH Road, take a U-turn at the TH Road-Metro train Pillar 12, and turn left into Balakrishna Street before reaching their destination.

Vehicles travelling from Ennore towards Paris Corner through the incoming side of SN Chetty Road will also be diverted. Buses, heavy vehicles, two-wheelers and light motor vehicles will be directed through the opposite side of the road at the SN Chetty Road-Power Kuppam junction, located opposite the Muslim burial ground, and will proceed in the outgoing direction.

Those vehicles will then take a left at the incoming side of the SN Chetty Road-Kasimedu signal junction to continue towards Paris Corner. The traffic police announcement specifies separate arrangements for vehicles travelling towards Ennore and those moving from Ennore, reflecting the need to maintain movement around the junction while the sewer work is carried out.

The work is linked to a collapsed sewer door at the junction, according to the traffic police announcement. The diversions are scheduled to remain operational for 15 days, after which traffic arrangements will depend on the progress and completion of the Metro Water work.
