Kalyan-Dombivli has prepared a major police and civic operation for Ganesh idol immersion on Anant Chaturdashi, with around 1,000 police personnel planned across roads, junctions, immersion ghats and other designated locations. The operation will cover 14,365 household idols and 182 public Ganesh festival idols within the municipal limits.
The security arrangement has been planned by the Kalyan police division under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Honmane and Dombivli Assistant Commissioner of Police Marathe. The deployment is intended to ensure that immersion processions and activities at the immersion sites proceed peacefully.
The police deployment will include two deputy commissioners of police, four assistant commissioners of police, 25 police inspectors, 80 assistant police inspectors, 795 police personnel and 160 home guards. Two State Reserve Police Force units will also be deployed in sensitive areas, according to information from the office of the Kalyan division deputy commissioner of police.
The largest concentration of household idols is in the limits of Kolsewadi police station in Kalyan East, where 5,290 idols are scheduled for immersion. The Manpada police station limits in Dombivli account for 3,000 household idols, followed by 2,350 in the Ramnagar police station area.
Other police station areas included in the arrangements are Tilaknagar, with 250 household idols; Vishnunagar, with 925; and the Kalyan police station areas of Bazaar Peth, with 950, and Khadakpada, with 900. The figures indicate how the immersion operation will be distributed across a large and densely occupied urban area rather than concentrated at a single site.
The nine police station jurisdictions together also include the 182 public Ganesh festival idols. The Mahatma Phule police station area has the highest number of public idols, at 38. Police personnel will monitor the immersion processions and sensitive locations during the operation.
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation has separately arranged essential facilities at immersion locations for devotees. The civic administration has planned 35 artificial immersion ponds in addition to arrangements at Ganesh ghats. These facilities are intended to support the movement of devotees and provide designated options for idol immersion within the municipal area.
The scale of the operation places both police coordination and municipal facilities at the centre of the day’s arrangements. The deployment will cover processions, junctions, roads and immersion points, while the civic administration’s facilities will serve households and public festival organisers arriving at the designated locations.
The police and municipal arrangements will remain focused on completing the immersion of the scheduled idols peacefully across the Kalyan-Dombivli municipal limits on Anant Chaturdashi.
