Jaipur Authorities Launch Joint Effort to Eradicate Encroachments and Enhance Traffic Management

In a concerted effort to address the persistent issue of encroachments on city roads and enhance traffic management, the Traffic Control Board convened a crucial meeting on Monday involving key stakeholders, including the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), and the city traffic police. Chaired by Jaipur Development Commissioner Manju Rajpal, the meeting emphasized the imperative for regular collaborative action to combat encroachments effectively. Rajpal articulated the need for joint campaigns spearheaded by the JDA and the municipal corporation to rid Jaipur of encroachments, particularly along main thoroughfares and other critical areas.

Key decisions emerged from the meeting, including directives for the installation of traffic signals at nine strategic locations, removal of temporary and permanent encroachments from nine identified stretches on city roads, and the placement of no-parking boards at 14 designated spots. Additionally, initiatives such as painting zebra crossings, stop lines, and white stripes at 29 locations were underscored to bolster road safety measures.

Identifying 15 sites prone to traffic bottlenecks, officials resolved to undertake targeted interventions to alleviate congestion and enhance traffic flow. Furthermore, the meeting highlighted actions taken by JMC Heritage and Greater officials to address unauthorized marriage gardens operating without adequate parking facilities, demonstrating a commitment to enforcing regulations.

In an endeavour to strengthen public transport infrastructure, plans were unveiled for the procurement of approximately 150 e-buses to operate on various routes across the city, augmenting existing transport services. The Traffic Control Board also directed the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) to introduce shuttle bus services from Ramniwas Bagh JDA underground parking to the Walled City, thereby enhancing accessibility.

Additional measures encompassed the installation of road fences at 101 intersections or triangles to facilitate free-left facilities for commuters. Moreover, proposals were mooted to secure land allocations for the establishment of an Abhay Command Centre and Traffic Control Room, as well as designated sites for confiscated vehicles.

As Jaipur embarks on this collaborative endeavour to combat encroachments and fortify traffic management infrastructure, the concerted efforts of all stakeholders are poised to yield tangible improvements in road safety and traffic efficiency across the city.
