Hyderabad’s new one-way traffic system around KBR Park is beginning to improve traffic movement, with motorists gradually adapting to the changes introduced on August 18. Traffic officials said travel times have improved compared with the initial days of implementation.
Nearly 10 days after the new system was introduced, traffic police reviewed vehicle volumes, movement patterns and commuter feedback to assess its impact. Officials observed that traffic movement has become smoother as regular commuters become more familiar with the revised routes. The system requires motorists to follow specific lane changes to reach different exits around the park. Traffic personnel have been deployed at important points to guide drivers and communicate route changes through public address systems. According to traffic officials, Tuesdays have recorded comparatively heavier traffic volumes. Monitoring will continue to identify congestion patterns and determine whether additional measures are required. The traffic police are also coordinating with Google to update route information on Maps. The updates are expected to reflect road changes, traffic conditions and congestion alerts, helping motorists plan their journeys more effectively.
Better guidance is also being considered for gig workers who frequently travel through the area. Regular updates through the Maps India app could help delivery personnel and other frequent road users understand the revised traffic arrangements. The initial improvement suggests that motorists are gradually adjusting to the one-way system. However, the long-term effectiveness of the arrangement will depend on continued monitoring of traffic volumes, commuter behaviour and congestion at surrounding junctions.
