Hyderabad rain intensified across parts of Telangana over the last 24 hours, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas of Secunderabad, Bowenpally, Alwal and nearby zones, while Siddipet district recorded the State’s highest rainfall at Kondapak mandal.
Rainfall data from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed Kondapak receiving 145.3 mm, the highest recorded total among the locations listed in the report. Other parts of Siddipet district also recorded heavy downpours, with Thipparam in Kukunoorpally receiving 114.8 mm, Nangnoor recording 109.3 mm and Husnabad receiving 101.5 mm.
Chegunta in Medak district recorded 108.0 mm, placing it among the five locations with the highest rainfall. The heavy showers were reported amid renewed active monsoon conditions across Telangana, with neighbouring districts including Medak, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Karimnagar also experiencing significant rainfall.
Several locations in and around Hyderabad received heavy rain and reported waterlogging in low-lying areas. The Begumpet IMD observatory and the Gymkhana grounds area recorded the highest rainfall in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation region, with Begumpet receiving 95.5 mm and Gymkhana ESS in Tirumalagiri recording 95.0 mm.
Rainfall in the GHMC region was also substantial at other monitoring locations. The Bowenpally Ward Office in Balanagar recorded 87.0 mm, Picket Government Primary School in Maredpally received 72.5 mm, and the Community Hall in Telecom Colony, Alwal, recorded 70.8 mm.
The distribution of rainfall shows that the heaviest showers were not limited to a single part of the city. Monitoring points in Secunderabad, Balanagar, Tirumalagiri, Maredpally and Alwal all recorded significant totals, with low-lying areas in and around these zones affected by water accumulation.
The reported rainfall figures were recorded during the preceding 24-hour period and cover both city monitoring points and locations across Telangana. The data places Kondapak in Siddipet at the top of the listed rainfall locations, while Begumpet recorded the highest total among the GHMC-region sites included in the report.
