Hyderabad rain brought relief from prolonged hot and humid conditions but also caused waterlogging and early-morning travel disruptions across parts of the city and neighbouring districts after a heavy overnight downpour. Rainfall began on Friday evening and continued into the early hours of Saturday, with several locations recording more than 60 mm within the reporting period.
According to rainfall data from the Telangana Development Planning Society, Keesara in Medchal-Malkajgiri district recorded 112 mm. Within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, Bahadurpura near Zoo Park received 82.3 mm, while Serilingampally recorded 73.8 mm at Kakatiya Hills in Madhapur.
Shaikpet, measured at the Dr MCRHRD IT Campus, recorded 67.5 mm. Rooplal Bazar in the Bahadurpura area received 65 mm. The rainfall was concentrated in and around Hyderabad and ended a prolonged spell of hot and humid weather across the region.
The intensity of the downpour affected movement on several roads. Low-lying areas experienced waterlogging, while commuters travelling during the early morning faced disruptions. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and traffic personnel worked to clear standing water from main roads, according to the report.
The rainfall was also significant outside the city. Valigonda in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district recorded the highest figure listed in the report at 118 mm. Narketpalle in Nalgonda received 90.5 mm, followed by Bibinagar in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri with 84.5 mm and Ramannapeta with 81.5 mm.
The distribution of rainfall shows the uneven intensity of the event across the Hyderabad metropolitan region. Abdullapurmet and Thorrur in Rangareddy district recorded 76.5 mm, placing the location among the highest rainfall points in the combined GHMC, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and surrounding municipal areas listed in the report.
For residents, the rainfall provided a temporary break from humid heat while exposing the immediate operational pressure that intense showers place on the city’s roads and drainage network. The reported response focused on removing accumulated water from key roads to support traffic movement during the morning peak.
The Telangana Development Planning Society rainfall readings cited in the report provide the latest recorded measurements for the affected locations. Municipal and traffic personnel continued clearing water from affected roads following the overnight rainfall.
