Gujat private school fee proposals for the 2027-28 academic session can now be submitted to the Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) until November 30, giving schools with pending applications an additional window to complete the process. The earlier deadline had been set for October 31.
The extension was decided after representations were made that several schools had not yet submitted their proposals. With the original deadline approaching, the committee agreed to continue accepting the applications until November 30. The decision is expected to provide relief to schools across Gujarat, including institutions in Ahmedabad whose submissions are still pending.
The fee regulatory process applies to self-financed schools in the state. Under Gujarat’s fee regulation framework, schools seeking to charge fees within the prescribed lower limits must submit an online affidavit to the fee committee. The limits are Rs 15,000 for pre-primary and primary education, Rs 25,000 for secondary and higher secondary schools in the general stream, and Rs 30,000 for the science stream.
Schools proposing fees above these limits must submit an offline proposal along with an original processing-fee challan of Rs 1,000 and a notarised affidavit on Rs 300 stamp paper. If approved, the proposed fee will apply for the next three years, according to the information published by Nav Gujarat Samay.
The extension does not remove the documentation requirements for schools. Each proposal must include the institution’s audit reports for the previous two years, bank statements for the preceding six months, evidence of teachers’ qualifications and salaries, the approved building plan and a registered rent agreement where applicable.
These requirements place the fee proposal within a wider administrative review of a school’s finances, staffing and physical premises. The process is intended to give the committee records against which a proposed fee can be assessed, rather than relying only on the amount requested by the institution.
In Ahmedabad, the FRC had received proposals from 125 schools by the time of the report, while applications from several other schools were still awaited. Similar pending submissions were reported in other districts, making the extension relevant across the state rather than only in Ahmedabad.
For parents, the immediate significance of the decision is that fee proposals for the next academic session will continue to move through the regulatory process instead of being closed on the earlier October 31 date. However, the extension itself does not approve any fee increase. Schools must still submit the required records, and the proposals remain subject to the committee’s process.
The revised deadline for schools to submit their fee proposals for the 2027-28 session is November 30. The source report does not specify when the committee will announce decisions on individual proposals.
