Hyderabad Metro-RTC common pass fares will fall sharply from November 8, with the daily pass reduced to Rs. 275 and the monthly pass cut to Rs. 4,000, Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said. The revised pricing is intended to reduce commuting costs and make combined public transport more accessible.
Under the new structure, Rs. 200 from the daily pass will be allocated to Metro Rail travel and Rs. 75 to TSRTC bus services. The daily pass will allow users to make up to four single journeys a day across the covered services.
The monthly common pass will cost Rs. 4,000, down from Rs. 8,500. It will include Rs. 3,000 for Metro Rail travel and Rs. 1,000 for TSRTC bus services. Monthly pass holders will be permitted to make up to 50 round trips in a month.
The reduction means monthly pass users will save Rs. 4,500 compared with the earlier fare, according to the minister’s statement. Daily pass users will save Rs. 125 each time they purchase the revised pass, as the price falls from Rs. 400 to Rs. 275.
The common pass is designed to link two major components of Hyderabad’s public transport system: the city’s Metro Rail network and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation bus services. For commuters who use buses to reach Metro stations or complete journeys beyond the rail network, the combined pass provides a single fare arrangement across both modes.
The revised prices could be particularly relevant to regular commuters who make repeated journeys during the week and currently pay separately for bus and Metro travel. The monthly entitlement of up to 50 round trips establishes a defined usage limit, while the daily pass permits up to four single journeys.
The fare change comes as transport affordability remains closely linked to how easily commuters can combine different modes of public transport. Hyderabad’s Metro stations serve as interchange points for bus passengers, and the common-pass arrangement connects the two systems through a shared travel product rather than separate tickets.
The state government said the decision was taken to lower travel expenses and improve access to public transport. The revised fares will come into effect on November 8, when commuters will be able to use the new daily and monthly common-pass prices.
