Hyderabad Metro-RTC Pass Fares Slashed Ahead of Diwali

Hyderabad Metro-RTC combined pass fares will fall sharply from November 8, with the Telangana government reducing the daily pass price to Rs 275 and the monthly pass to Rs 4,000. The move is intended to make public transport more affordable for commuters using both metro and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation services.

The daily combined pass has been reduced from Rs 400 to Rs 275. Of the revised fare, Rs 200 will be allocated for Metro travel and Rs 75 for RTC services. The pass allows holders to make four single journeys in a day.

The monthly pass has seen a larger reduction, falling from Rs 8,500 to Rs 4,000. Under the revised structure, Rs 3,000 will be allocated for Metro travel and Rs 1,000 for RTC services. The monthly pass allows up to 50 round trips.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the revised fares would reduce the financial burden on commuters and make public transport more accessible. According to the minister, users of the daily pass will save Rs 125 a day, while monthly pass holders will save Rs 4,500 under the new rates.

The fare change brings together two parts of Hyderabad’s public transport system under a lower combined pricing structure. For commuters who depend on the Metro for part of a journey and RTC services for another part, the revised pass is designed to reduce the total cost of regular travel.

The reduction also changes the relative cost of the two pass options. The daily fare is being cut by Rs 125 from the existing rate, while the monthly fare is being reduced by more than half. Based on the stated limits, the monthly pass provides access to up to 50 round trips across the combined Metro and RTC arrangement.

The government announced the reductions as a Diwali measure for commuters. The revised fares will come into effect on November 8, when the new daily and monthly combined pass rates are scheduled to be implemented.
