Hyderabad’s 19-km Ganesh immersion route has been inspected by a joint team of police, civic and infrastructure agencies ahead of the procession, with around 20,000 police personnel set to be deployed across the city for security and crowd management.
The inspection was carried out on Tuesday along the route from Balapur through Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Charminar and MJ Market to the Telugu Talli Flyover. Officials checked overhead clearances, height restrictions and road conditions to support the movement of devotees and procession vehicles.
The team included officials from Hyderabad City Police, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency, the Roads and Buildings Department and other departments. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said the arrangements were intended to ensure safe and hassle-free movement for devotees and the public.
Security monitoring will be carried out through the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre, where CCTV cameras will be used to continuously track the procession route. Sajjanar said Quick Reaction Teams, dog squads, anti-chain-snatching teams and SHE Teams would also be deployed during the immersion arrangements.
Officials from different departments will remain at the command centre round-the-clock on immersion day to coordinate the response. The multi-agency arrangement places the route’s road conditions, clearances, crowd movement and public safety under simultaneous monitoring rather than treating the procession as a single-department operation.
With rains continuing in Hyderabad, organisers have been advised to follow electrical and other safety precautions. Sajjanar appealed to devotees and organisers to cooperate with the police to ensure a peaceful immersion procession.
Sajjanar, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan and Hyderabad District Collector Dr Priyanka Ala also visited the Balapur Ganesh idol and offered prayers. The agencies are expected to continue coordination through the command centre and along the inspected route on immersion day.
