Hyderabad heavy rain caused waterlogging in low-lying areas across parts of the city after renewed active monsoon conditions brought intense showers to Telangana in the last 24 hours, with Begumpet recording 95.5 mm and Siddipet’s Kondapak mandal registering the State’s highest rainfall at 145.3 mm.
Rain affected several areas in and around Hyderabad, including Secunderabad, Bowenpally and Alwal. The reported waterlogging was concentrated in low-lying locations, highlighting the immediate impact of high-intensity rainfall on the city’s drainage and road network.
Rainfall data cited from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed that Siddipet district recorded the heaviest downpours in the State. Kondapak received 145.3 mm, followed by Thipparam in Kukunoorpally at 114.8 mm, Nangnoor at 109.3 mm and Husnabad at 101.5 mm. Chegunta in Medak recorded 108 mm.
Other districts, including Medak, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Karimnagar, also experienced significant rainfall during the period. The distribution of the heaviest readings indicates that the weather system affected multiple districts rather than being confined to Hyderabad.
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation region, the highest recorded rainfall was reported at the Begumpet IMD Office location in Balanagar, which received 95.5 mm. The Gymkhana ESS area in Tirumalagiri recorded 95 mm, while the Bowenpally Ward Office registered 87 mm.
Rainfall readings from other GHMC locations included 72.5 mm at Picket Government Primary School in Maredpally and 70.8 mm at the Community Hall in Telecom Colony, Alwal. These measurements show substantial variation across the city, even as several northern and central areas reported heavy showers.
The rainfall has placed low-lying urban areas under pressure, where water accumulation can affect roads, access to neighbourhoods and daily movement. The available report does not provide details on traffic restrictions, road closures, damage, evacuations or municipal response measures.
