Large volumes of construction waste have accumulated on government land in areas surrounding the Information Technology corridor, where rapid construction of residential towers, office complexes, hospitals and commercial developments has significantly increased demolition and building debris. Dust pollution, unauthorised burning of debris and blocked natural drainage channels can degrade air quality and increase the likelihood of localised flooding during periods of intense rainfall. As Hyderabad experiences more frequent extreme weather events, unmanaged debris in low-lying areas could further heighten climate-related urban risks. The challenge also extends to mobility.
