Hyderabad Airport Revises Passenger Charges From September
Passengers using Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad will face revised airport charges from September 1, 2026, after the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India approved a new tariff structure for the airport’s fourth control period. The changes will affect both domestic and international travellers and could raise the cost of air travel for frequent passengers.
Under the revised tariff order, a User Development Fee (UDF) will be introduced for passengers using Hyderabad airport. From September 1, 2026, arriving domestic passengers will pay Rs 220, while the charge for international arrivals will be Rs 440. For departing passengers, the UDF will be higher. Domestic travellers will pay Rs 515, compared with Rs 1,030 for international departures. The charges apply during the initial period of the new tariff structure and are scheduled to change in later years. The tariff order covers the period from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031. The phased structure means some passenger charges will eventually decline towards the end of the control period. For arriving domestic passengers, the UDF is scheduled to fall to Rs 175 from November 2029. The corresponding international arrival charge will reduce to Rs 390 from April 2030. Departure charges are also planned to decline to Rs 415 for domestic passengers and Rs 915 for international passengers during the later stages of the tariff period.
Several categories of passengers will not have to pay the UDF. These include children below two years, diplomatic passport holders, eligible airline crew travelling on duty and certain passengers travelling for official government, military or United Nations peacekeeping purposes. Transit and transfer passengers are also exempt. The revised order also changes charges applicable to airlines. From September 1, domestic flights will face a landing charge of Rs 435 per 1,000 kg, while international flights will be charged Rs 630 per 1,000 kg until March 31, 2027. Parking charges for aircraft will also apply during the period, with remote stands attracting Rs 17 per 1,000 kg and contact stands Rs 34 per 1,000 kg.
For Hyderabad, the revised airport tariff comes as passenger traffic and aviation connectivity continue to support the city’s wider economic expansion. The airport serves a growing metropolitan region with strong technology, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and services activity. The immediate impact will be felt by passengers, particularly those travelling frequently or internationally. Higher aviation-related charges can increase the overall cost of travel, while the eventual reduction in some UDF rates provides a more gradual tariff trajectory. The revised structure also places greater importance on transparency around how airport charges translate into infrastructure and service improvements. As Hyderabad’s aviation network expands, efficient facilities, passenger convenience and sustainable airport operations will remain central to the airport’s long-term role in the city’s growth.
